An afternoon out

After the laziest morning ever, (we decided we deserved a super-lie-in, and didn't get up out of bed properly until 12pm) we drove into the country and had an afternoon in Kyneton. It's an historic little country town, full of art galleries, lovely gift shops and cafes serving locally grown produce etc. Had lunch and a delicious latte, and just wondered around the shops. Toby was delightful as always, and got lots of attention from strangers because of his absolute cuteness.
Luis is still loving his camera, and kept taking shots of me. I don't mind this one, as photos of me go....

Christmas Day

Just thought I'd put a few more pictures of our Christmas up here for you.
Here's Toby opening and trying on his first pair of trainers....(just like his Daddy used to have)

and here's our Christmas table outside on the roof terrace,

and this is the feast - tiger prawns with lime mayonnaise, cerviche, followed by rib eye of beef with potato salad, tomato and basil salad and a green salad. We finished it all up with homemade peach and raspberry trifle, of which I had 3 helpings, and feel very sick now.....and here's Toby playing with one of his new toys

Christmas morning

We got to have a nice little lie in this morning, Toby didn't wake until 9am. Then we helped him open all his pressies......

Lots of books from us,

a beautiful cosy blanket and toys from Aunty Alison and Uncle Phil,
(check out Toby and his Dad's matching chins in this photo)

a delicious peek-a-boo frog from Granny and Grandpa in England (that was stuffed in his mouth the minute he opened it!)

and lovely socks from Great Aunt Bea

Toby's first Christmas and he was super excited.

Flying

Toby really laughed today for the first time! I was 'flying' with him in my arms and he started laughing, it was a divine moment. Luis managed to capture him on camera

It's really hot today, so we are just lazing around the house with the blinds down trying to keep cool. I managed to finish my Christmas garland while Toby has been sleeping, and feel quite pleased with it.

Christmas crafting

Toby has been sleeping quite a bit lately during the day, so I've bee making the most of it and crafting like mad. Here's a little sneak peak at some of the little bits and pieces I've made for my Christmas garland.....

Rain,rain

Its been raining all day today, really big rain. Perfect day to do a spot of fabric shopping.....so I bought this stuff to make another patchwork quilt for Toby

and then a few ribbons caught my eye and snuck into the pile of stuff to be purchased....

and of course I had to buy a few extra things for a special lady with a new sewing machine, here's a little preview.....I'll be posting it off in the next day or so.

The only thing to do on a day like this, (apart from fabric shopping) is to stay at home on the couch, drink cups of tea and eat delicious pastries from the French patisserie, which is what we've done. Toby even had a little go at sleeping on the couch.

Naked

Yesterday, Toby spent much of the afternoon naked. It was a lovely and warm day, so after a bath, I gave him some nappy free time and then just hung out with him on our bed, and took these gorgeous shots of him.

Being naked is obviously hard work, so the little man needed a 5 minute catnap

and then there was more energy for play

And this is Toby earlier in the day enjoying some tummy time, I'm doing everything I can to try and wear him out so he'll sleep!

So tired

Toby has just cried all day today, because he is so tired.
Over the weekend he was brilliant, going to bed around 9pm, and he slept through last night too, from 9.30pm until 7.30am. But normally he sleeps in in the morning until 9am-ish, but for some reason he just couldn't get back to sleep this morning. I tried feeding him to sleep, rocking him, patting him, singing to him, but none of it worked. And i then tried for the rest of the day to get him to sleep because he just seemed so desperate, and then finally at 5pm he fell asleep....and he's still sleeping now (1 hour and 45 mins later!)
And while he has been napping, I managed to finish off the Christmas stocking I've made for him. I just need to buy him some little gifts to fill it with.

A Day out

We went to Healesville today, we started with a delicious breakfast at a winery/bakery place and then a stroll and a mooch around the shops. The weather was beautiful, warm and sunny with a lovely cool breeze. Toby slept for most of the time, then smiled and laughed when he was awake - divine.
We bought some gorgeous bread and apple pastries, and stopped off at a fruit farm for some cherries, before heading home with a quick detour via Queen Vic market to buy some salami. I think we are just obsessed with food.
We are having a super lazy evening, just reading the paper, drinking cups of tea and hanging out with Toby. We are all so tired, despite the fact that Toby is still sleeping through the night. (i hope writing this doesn't jinx it!)

Sleep avoidance

We went to see Cath to get some tips on how to make Toby sleep, and she has suggested feeding him everytime he cries, so over the course of a day he gets really full, which will make him tired so he will go to sleep. Sounds good in theory, but now I just seem to feed him non stop all day and he still won't go to sleep until 10.30pm! It has stopped the crying periods though which is a relief.
Everyone at mothers group today loved the shirt Toby was wearing that his Daddy bought for him.

Toby and his Dad

This is Toby and Luis taken last night. Toby was absolutely divine last night, he seems to get more handsome everyday! I went to see Cath today, and she showed me some techniques for getting Toby to sleep....fingers crossed they work. He is asleep as we speak, but lets see for how long....

A big nappy

I think Toby had the fullest nappy ever today. He was grunting a lot in his pram when we were out at lunch time, and by the time I got home it was everywhere...in his belly button, even under his arm, that's how much there was. And taking his dirty clothes off, it was then in his hair, so a daytime bath was in order. He still loves his baths, and loves hanging out wrapped in a towel afterward.
He is still obsessed with putting his fingers in his mouth, especially when he's tired, and sure enough he soon fell asleep (but just for his standard 20 minutes though...)
