Happy Birthday Granny!

Toby wanted to wish you a very happy birthday...the only problem is he also wanted to desperately eat the sign(s) that we made...

So it couldn't be easily ripped, I mounted it onto cardboard. Which was easily chewed by the little monster within seconds, giving him the appearance of wearing lipstick...

So a new sign was made, which was destroyed instantly, then another sign was made...this too lasted just a minute or two, and I never captured the perfect photo.

We had some fun though.

Happy Birthday Mum!

New Teeth!

You can just about see them, poking through.
I bought him his first toothbrush on Friday, and we brushed his teeth for the first time today.

Unique Toby Quirks, Part 2

How could I have forgotten these in my earlier post...?

7. When he drinks his bottles of milk, he raises and lowers his eyebrows as if in ecstasy, my heart melts a little every time I see him do this.

8. He gulps his drinks down so fast, that when he pulls his bottle of water away from his mouth he can hardly breathe, and his eyes are all red and bulging....(just like his Mummy, that is exactly how I drink...sorry Toby)

9. He like to eat his bananas as quickly as possible, shoveling REALLY large pieces into his mouth so his cheeks fill out hamster style. It often terrifies me when I watch him, he looks like he will choke, but he just loves banana too much...

10. He loves to chew my necklaces. I don't normally wear them anymore, I've given up, I get so sick of either having Toby's saliva all over me or his screaming when I pull them away from him. Today I wore a beaded necklace for some reason. We went for a walk down by the beach, Toby in my arms chewing on my necklace, and Luis taking photos of us. Suddenly Luis shouted out, and I looked at Toby, his whole face, lips, teeth, mouth and fingers were dyed bright turquoise blue! (From the dodgy i-have-no-idea-if-this-stuff-is toxic-or-not-necklace I was wearing) In a panic I tore off my necklace and just poured water into Toby's mouth, hence in this photo below, he is soaking wet. And wrinkling his nose as he laughs at his Dads silly jokes.

Rainbow Rob

This is Toby, this morning, reading his absolute favourite book. We have been reading it together ever since he was about 8 weeks old, and he still squeals with delight every time he sees it. In fact, I have read it to him so many times, I know the book off by heart and can read it to him whilst closing my eyes and attempting to have a nap in bed...

Quirks

We've had a playful afternoon. I bought Toby a new book from the childrens bookshop, which we read. ( A whole bookshop dedicated to children's books! We were both in heaven!) It has lots of flaps to lift, so he really loved it. Afterwards, I put on some music, and Toby and I played along with his new maracas. He's pretty good at shaking those things.

I also noticed this morning, when i had a sunlight induced sneezing fit in the car, that Toby found it pretty hysterical, so this afternoon I pretended to sneeze...and again he found it super funny. So we made it into a game, taking it in turns to pretend sneeze.

I was thinking today, after meeting up with some other Mother's, how different all babies are.

6 unique Toby quirks:

1. He still signals he's tired by putting his thumb in his mouth and his other arm across his eyes to shield them from light. It almost seems he does it involuntarily, then when he realises what he is doing he quickly pulls his thumb out. This process happens over and over, until he is put in his cot to sleep.

2. He refuses to be spoon fed his food unless he has a piece of toast in his hand. He consumes nearly an entire loaf of bread a week, he's utterly obsessed with toast.

3. His eyes have not yet decided if they are dark grey or brown, but I think today they have altered, to be more brown, less grey.

4. He blows raspberries constantly when he is bored, (And especially if I am in Spotlight, that store seems to bore him the most!) until the entire front of him is absolutely soaking wet.

5. When Luis sprays his deodrant in the morning, Toby copies the noise the aerosol makes. Even though he is not in the same room, he still hears it and copies it. He also likes to copy coughs, sneezes (this is a new addition today) and clicking of tongues.

6. When we go into the children's section of a bookshop, Toby gets really excited, and starts flapping his arms, almost shaking and shouting really wildly. I actually don't get the chance to stay that long in a bookshop because he makes such a commotion sometimes. Books are his favourite toys.

Hide and Seek

Toby......where are you?

BOO!

He loves this game.

After hide and seek, it was time for a sleep.

Music and clapping

Toby loves music.
He has some bells on a stick, his own mini tambourine and his own CD's. And he's pretty obsessed with his Dad's guitar. Everytime I put him down on the floor, he just makes a bee line for it, and once he reaches it he just pats it and makes his funny little super excited sound. In fact, I watched him this morning actually crawl all by himself, towards it. That's how desperate he was to touch it. It was just a tiny little bit of crawling, but I was so excited to see him do it! He hasn't done it again since, and I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined it.
These photos were taken whilst playing his favourite CD (the music from the music and movement group), and he always starts clapping to it, all of his own accord.

Swinging, relaxing

This is Toby, in heaven, being swung in a hammock.

He could be like this all day.
He just loves it.

Stop photographing me!

These photos were taken last week, just after I made Toby a new little comfort blanket, that I can attach his beloved ladybird to.

I don't think they need very many words to accompany them. They just show my beautiful, happy, funny baby boy, with his blonde hair (who would have thought?) and his big teeth.

And after a few minutes, Toby didn't need words to say,

Please stop photographing me!
