Daddy is home again

All grown up, sitting on a chair.
He is so happy to have his Daddy home. We went to the airport last night to pick Luis up, and Toby squealed with delight when he saw him, flapping his arms with excitement, and reaching out to touch his face. Luis bought him a big toy camel, which he loves.

Doing the laundry

Toby woke up in the loveliest of lovely moods today. Maybe he can sense my excitement at his Daddy coming home tonight.....
I discovered a new way of doing the laundry this afternoon. I always find it hard when Toby is awake, if I leave him in his bedroom on the floor he screams from the moment I leave the room, so it occurred to me today that I can just pop him in the laundry basket in the garage, and the problem is solved!
He can watch as I hang up the clothes. And afterwards I took him for a little ride around the garage, he was in fits of laughter at that. Perfect!

Driving me crazy

I know, I keep putting up shots of Toby eating.
The thing is, meal times are some of the funniest times of the day. I both love them and am exasperated by them. Babies are pretty uncoordinated, so how come Toby can manage to clap his hands over the food filled spoon at the exact moment I am putting it in his mouth? Sending the food flying and driving me crazy...
And how come the place mat is so much tastier than the home cooked food I make for him?

First of all, he tries to distract me by laughing...

then he quickly makes a dive for it....

then he decides he would like to try and get his hands smothered in food at the same time...

once all the obstructing items are safely thrown onto the floor, the whole mat can be in his mouth and thoroughly enjoyed....

then he wonders why I'm cross.

More Teeth!

I just noticed today, that his top front teeth are just starting to poke through!

All the better for eating with....

Well, I'm not sure you could call it eating, more like just making a mess.

He's going to look like a little beaver soon.

Sitting

The little man can sit up all by himself now! He seems more contended now when he plays, and very pleased with himself.

Easter break

We had a lovely time in Anglesea. Didn't do much, just relaxed, drank lattes, ate too much chocolate..... Toby enjoyed himself. He was lavished with attention, and he seemed to love seeing all the new things - countryside, kangaroos, koalas, the beach....only it was on the beach we discovered he has a fear of seaweed. He was all wobbly lipped, which soon turned into absolute hysteria just at the sight of the stuff.

Morning walk

We went for a walk after breakfast on Sunday at the Botanical gardens. Luis in his new Paul Smith socks (he is so pleased with them, he couldn't wait to put them on)

and Toby in his handmade English shoes

(a gift from his British Uncle and Aunt, thanks again Phil and Ali!).

It was a beautiful morning, a bit of an autumn chill in the air, but the sun was shining, warming our faces. The leaves are starting to change colour now, and I gave Toby his first lesson in how and why they do.

Birthday lunch

We had lunch in Daylesford, to celebrate Luis's birthday. Luis even wore his new Paul Smith socks, and Toby wore his new winter hat. There was a bit of a chill in the air today, so a bit of extra warmth was required.
I bought the hat earlier on in the week from a little store in Fitzroy, and the girl in the shop warned me that I may die from the cuteness when he tried it on at home. And she was right.....

Also making me die from the cuteness is Toby starting to say words...yesterday he said bah-bah, and today, he said ma-ma. It's the most amazing feeling.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!

We had such fun taking this photo for Luis's birthday card! We were in a complete rush, I was worried Luis would come home from work at any moment, and Toby managed to destroy 2 signs before I'd even taken a single shot! After glueing 3 bits of cardboard together it was finally strong enough to withstand Toby's teeth. I took over a hundred shots, and finally managed to get one without the sign in his mouth and a smile - an absolute miracle.
He even co-operated with putting a hand print inside the card. (Though I needed help, someone had to pin his other hand down to stop him trying to grab the card and eat it....)
Happy birthday Luis - I hope you like the card. xxx

A rare moment...

he's on his tummy and smiling at the same time!
He's been a bit frustrated again today, trying to work out how to crawl. Still not progressing much, just looking like he's swimming on the spot, his facing turning red with all the effort and all the anger.
